Russia marks 70th anniversary of Battle of Stalingrad

Russian President Vladimir Putin has led the tributes to those who died in the Battle of Stalingrad, which ended 70 years ago.

Many say it was a turning point of World War II, but over the course of its six months it claimed one million lives.

The city was renamed Volgograd after Stalin's death, but the local council has allowed it to be called Stalingrad again during the commemorations.

Daniel Sandford reports.
