Report to highlight cruelty in Irish Magdalene Laundries

A report published on Tuesday will outline the extent of the Irish government's knowledge of, and involvement in, what went on in Magdalene laundries.

The Catholic-run workhouses operated in Ireland from the 1920s to the mid-1990s, taking in "fallen women" and girls considered "troubled" to work and live.
