Earth Hour campaign celebrated around the world

The World Wildlife Fund has encouraged households and businesses to turn off non-essential lights for one hour, to raise awareness of climate change.

The Kremlin in Moscow said it would take part for the first time in the international campaign to promote saving energy.

Lights illuminating the red brick walls of the famous building and nearby St Basil's Cathedral went out to mark Earth Hour.

Other landmarks taking part in the worldwide switch off include the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower.
