Turkish police deploy water cannon against protesters
Police in Istanbul have advanced on protesters in Taksim Square, using water cannon to drive them out.
Demonstrators had vowed to continue their protest despite a fresh warning from prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to evacuate.
The government is appealing a ruling by an Istanbul court which issued an injunction against its plans to replace the park with a shopping centre and replica 18th-Century military barracks.
The proposal sparked the first protests in Istanbul.
