Silvio Berlusconi awaits final tax fraud appeal verdict

Italy's former president Silvio Berlusconi is due to learn if his final appeal against a conviction for tax fraud has been successful.

Mr Berlusconi was originally found guilty in October 2012 and received a jail sentence and a five year ban on holding public office. The verdict was upheld at a subsequent appeal.

The case is being watched closely across the country, amid fears that the result could destabilise the coalition government.

Susana Mendonca reports.
