Hungarian Roma to have water pumps restored

The water supply to roadside pumps in a Hungarian town with a high Roma population will be restored following government intervention.

More than 10,000 Roma live in the former steel town of Ozd, and many rely on the pumps as they are too poor to pay for running water in their homes.

Last week the council switched off almost 30 pumps, and drastically reduced the supply to another 60, saying it could not afford to keep operating them.
