ICC Prosecutor: 'Only judges can decide Ruto case'

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has told the BBC that crimes committed after the disputed Kenyan elections in 2007 should not go unpunished.

Fatou Bensouda was speaking after the African Union called a special summit to discuss a mass withdrawal from the ICC in protest at the trial of Kenya's Deputy President William Ruto.

Mr Ruto and Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta are due to face separate trials charged with organising violence following the elections, in which some 1,200 people were killed.
