Crosses made from wreckage of Lampedusa migrant boats

A carpenter on the island of Lampedusa has been making crosses out of wood from the wreckage of migrant boats travelling from north Africa.

Hundreds of migrants fleeing conflict in countries such as Syria have died in recent weeks after their overcrowded boats capsized.

Francisco Tuccio was asked by the diocese of Milan to make 150 crosses for a commemoration to be held on November 2.
