Sollecito is back in court for Kercher murder retrial

The Italian man convicted and later cleared of killing the British student Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2007 has appeared in court in Florence.

American student Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend have already served four years in prison for the murder but both were acquitted in 2011 on the basis of flawed DNA evidence.

However, Raffaele Sollecito was in court on Wednesday after Italy's highest court ordered a fresh appeals trial, faulting the acquittal as having been full of contradictions.

Alan Johnston reports.
