EU budget 'good example for Europe' - Dutch Liberal MEP

A Dutch Liberal MEP, Jan Mulder, says the EU's new seven-year budget sets a good example for European governments because for the first time the EU has agreed to spend less.

In a BBC interview Mr Mulder, a member of the liberal ALDE group, said the agreement to switch spending from one budget area to another if necessary was also an improvement.

He was speaking after the European Parliament approved the budget for 2014-2020, after months of tough negotiations.
