Schumacher accident: No estimate on speed, say police

French investigators say that film footage from a camera on Michael Schumacher's helmet shows that the motor-racing star was skiing off the main piste when he crashed, sustaining critical head injuries.

The seven-times Formula 1 world champion has been in a medically induced coma for more than a week.

The investigators said Schumacher struck one rock and fell, hitting his head on another several metres below.

Stephane Bozon said Schumacher appeared to be going at the speed of "a very good skier", but said he was unable to put a figure on it.
