Ukraine president calls for dialogue with protesters

Ukraine riot police remain locked in a tense standoff with anti-government protesters after further violent overnight clashes in the capital Kiev.

The protesters are angry at the government's turn to Moscow and its rejection of a planned treaty with the EU.

On Monday night, Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych urged calm, saying that he was "calling for dialogue, for compromise, for calm in our beloved country".
