Georgian PM issues Sochi ceremony warning

Georgia's prime minister has warned he will take action if Russia makes any move to bolster the independence claims of the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia during ceremonies at the Winter Olympics.

Irakli Garibashvili told the BBC: "If there are any surprises we will of course react adequately."

Georgia has already expressed deep concern about Russia's decision last month to expand its Olympic security zone into Abkhazia, which is less than 24 miles (40km) along the Black Sea coast from Sochi.
