Police and protesters clash over new Turkish internet law

Riot police in Turkey have used tear gas to disperse thousands of people in Istanbul who were protesting against a new law tightening control of the internet.

Police also used water cannons to push the demonstrators away from the city's Taksim Square.

The controversial bill gives the government the authority to keep records of all user activities for up to two years.
