Ukraine crisis: Crimea sites controlled by armed troops

Unidentified armed men have seized Ukraine's Sevastopol and Simferopol airports, on the same day ousted President Viktor Yanukovych made his first public appearance since leaving the country.

Speaking in Russia, Mr Yanukovych said he was "not overthrown" but was compelled to leave Ukraine after threats to his life.

Russia has denied any involvement with the airports takeover, but confirmed its armoured vehicles had been on the move around Crimea - traditionally loyal to Russia - for "security" reasons.

Daniel Sandford reports from Sevastopol.
