Ukraine conflict: 'Russia has taken control of Crimea' - John Simpson

Russia has tightened its military grip on Ukraine's Crimea region - despite Western demands that it should withdraw.

Thousands of Russian troops are securing the region and further armour and ship movements have been reported.

The BBC's World Affairs Editor John Simpson says that Russia has "taken control" of the region - "without, apparently, a shot being fired".
