Syria opposition coalition: 'Time to honour promises'

The head of the Syrian Opposition Coalition Ahmed Jarba, has said the time has come for the leading members of the Friends of Syria group to honour promises to supply heavy weapons to the Free Syria army.

Mr Jarba told the BBC that before the recent Geneva peace talks, his group was promised more weapons if the Assad regime was seen to be at fault if the talks failed. Interviewed in Istanbul he said that the core group of the Friends of Syria, including the USA, the UK and Saudi Arabia, all blamed the Assad side for the lack of progress in Geneva.

Mr Jarba was speaking to the BBC's Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen.
