UN: 'Serious concern at Ukraine situation'

The UN secretary general said he was "very seriously concerned" at the tense situation in Ukraine.

Speaking at a news conference with Ukraine's interim president Olexander Turchynov, Ban Ki-moon said diplomacy was the only way forward.

He welcomed a move by Ukraine to adopt Russian as another language in Ukraine, but was told by Mr Turchynov that he had misunderstood and that would not happen.
