Pop star Ruslana: Putin's plan is to destroy Ukraine

Ukrainian pop star Ruslana has been one of the leading voices of protest in opposition to Russia's influence in her country over the past few months.

She has been a fixture in Kiev's Maidan Square - singing the national anthem night after night and using her influence to speak out for Ukraine's future.

Ruslana became a national sensation after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004.

She sat down with the BBC's Katty Kay in Washington, DC, where she was accepting a humanitarian award.
