Vladimir Putin praises 'loyalty' to Russia at Victory Day parade

Russia's president has stressed the importance of 'loyalty to the motherland' in a speech at the Victory Day parade in Moscow's Red Square.

The annual celebration, which marks the Soviet victory in World War Two, has been extended and is featuring more hardware than usual, building on a groundswell of patriotism in the wake of the country's annexation of Crimea.

Vladimir Putin told the crowd that Russians felt "how importance it is to be able to defend [the country's] interests."
