Juncker fends off presidency questions

Ex-Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker has refused to answer questions about his candidacy for European Commission President, as the issue continues to divide Britain and Germany.

Mr Juncker was approached by the BBC's Ben Wright about the issue outside a meeting in Brussels, however only replied: "I don't give interviews now".

Earlier, British Prime Minister David Cameron had a "candid" exchange of views with German Chancellor Angela Merkel over who should get the EU's top job.

Last week, German magazine Der Spiegel reported Britain could quit the EU if Mr Juncker was appointed, although this was dismissed by government sources.
