Nicolas Sarkozy: 'I want to say the truth'

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said that the French justice system is being used for "political ends" in an interview after he was placed under formal investigation for influence peddling.

In a joint interview with French TV channel TF1 and radio station Europe 1, Mr Sarkozy denied committing any unlawful act, and said that he was speaking out so that the French people knew what was happening.
