Ukraine conflict: US and EU step up Russia sanctions

The United States and European Union have increased sanctions against Russia over its alleged support for separatists fighting in Ukraine

Major banks, including Gazprombank, defence firms and energy companies are among those targeted in the latest round.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was quoted as saying sanctions would take US-Russia relations to a "dead end".
