Libya: Foreign Offices advises Britons to leave immediately

The Foreign Office has said Britons should leave Libya and advised against travel to the country because of growing instability.

It is estimated that there are up to 300 UK citizens in the country.

The country has been gripped by instability since the uprising in 2011, with more than 200 people killed in Tripoli and Benghazi in the past two weeks.

The Greek navy vessel Salamis has arrived in Athens with over 180 evacuees, including 77 Greek, 12 Cypriot, 78 Chinese, 10 British and seven Belgian citizens, as well as one Russian and one Albanian.
