Hollande: Hostage beheading in Algeria 'a cowardly assassination'

The French President, Francois Hollande has told the UN that the beheading of a French hostage in Algeria was a "cowardly assassination."

Mr Hollande was speaking to the United Nations shortly after it was confirmed that Herve Gourdel, a tourist who was kidnapped on Sunday, had been killed by an Algerian jihadist group linked to Islamic State (IS) militants.
