Catholic synod: Pope Francis setback on gay policy

Pope Francis has suffered a setback as proposals for wider acceptance of gay people failed to win a two-thirds majority at the Catholic Church synod.

Paragraphs in the draft report that called for greater openness towards homosexuals and divorced Catholics who have remarried, were stripped from the final text.

All other parts of the document were accepted by the synod.

James Reynolds reports.
