Charlie Hebdo attack: France falls silent for victims

Much of France came to a halt for a minute of silence on Thursday, to honour 12 people who died in an Islamist attack on the offices of the satirical magazine Charie Hebdo.

Flags were flown at half mast in Paris and the city's metro system stopped running.
