The partner of a policeman shot dead by gunmen in Paris, has described the moment she heard about his death.

Ahmed Merabet was killed while on duty outside the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. He was one of 17 people to lose their lives during three days of violent attacks in the city.

Speaking during a news conference his partner revealed she was watching coverage of the murders on French TV on Wednesday, but did not recognise Mr Merabet straight away.
