Who fired on the Maidan: Photographer's story

Thursday 20 February 2014 went down as the bloodiest day of clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces in Kiev's Independence Square, the Maidan.

Snipers were reported to have fired on protesters, and some armed demonstrators were also reported to be firing towards security forces. More than 50 protesters and at least three police officers died in the violence.

Almost a year on, the BBC's Gabriel Gatehouse talks to Evgeniy Maloletka, a Ukranian photographer who took pictures of armed men in Kiev's Conservatory building the morning of 20 February 2014.
