Claim to Klimt frieze looted by Nazis

An Austrian government advisory board is expected to give its recommendation on whether one of Gustav Klimt's most famous paintings should be returned to the heirs of its original Jewish owners.

The Beethoven Frieze, which was looted by the Nazis, was returned to the family after the Second World War. But it was subject to an export ban.

The heirs argue that Austria forced the family to sell it to the state at a cut-rate price in the 1970s, but this is disputed by the museum where it is displayed.
