Italian coastguard rescues nearly 6,000 migrants in Med

The Italian coastguard has saved nearly 6,000 migrants from overcrowded boats in the Mediterranean, over the weekend.

They also said that they had recovered at least 10 bodies from the water.

Mild weather and calmer seas have meant that more vessels have been attempting the crossing to Europe.
