EU migrant crisis: Smugglers' boats to be targeted by EU

Plans to destroy the boats used by people smugglers in the Mediterranean Sea are expected to be approved by the European Union later.

Legal backing is still needed from the UN as pressure continues to grow to deal with a crisis that has claimed at least 1,800 lives so far this year.

Decisions about how the mission will work will be taken at a meeting of foreign and defence ministers in Brussels.
