Migration crisis: Rise in Calais asylum seekers

The number of migrants applying for asylum in the Calais region, on the north coast of France, has doubled compare with 2014, official figures show.

Defences around the port have been strengthened significantly of late - deterring migrants from trying to get into Britain.

But aid workers believe migrants now realise that France could be a long-term option for them.
