Crimean Tatar TV director on being forced off air

ATR was the first ever Crimean Tatar TV channel, also broadcasting in Russian and Ukrainian.

Originally focussed on culture and entertainment, ATR became a key voice of opposition to annexation by Russia - broadcasting the protests of Crimean Tatars live, among other things.

After Russia's takeover, unable to renew its license, ATR was eventually forced to close down.

The channel now broadcasts out of Kiev, with some recorded programming provided by Crimea. But the situation remains precarious.

Sarah Rainsford spoke to ATR deputy director Lilya Budzhurova in Simferopol.
