Protests over proposed autonomy for eastern Ukraine

There have been protests in Ukraine ahead a vote on a bill which proposes a constitutional amendment granting the eastern part of the country more autonomy.

Eastern Ukraine is currently an area of conflict between Russian-backed rebels who want independence from Kiev and Ukrainian forces.

The debate over decentralisation triggered strong debate in the government chamber.
