Accept more Syrian refugees, US senator says
President Barack Obama has announced that the US will accept "at least" 10,000 Syrian refugees next year, but some US lawmakers are pushing for even more.
Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar is among a group of more than a dozen Senators who penned a letter to President Obama, calling on the US to take in up to 65,000 Syrians by the end of 2016.
Until now, the US had only agreed to take in 1,500 Syrians over the past four years.
Senator Klobuchar spoke with the BBC from Capitol Hill about why the US needs to do more to help those fleeing the violence in Syria.
