Cologne attacks: German reforms to ease foreign deportations

The German government is to make it easier to deport asylum seekers who commit crimes, following the wave of sexual assaults in Cologne on New Year's Eve.

Police say most of the suspects identified so far in relation to the assaults are foreign nationals.

The new proposals were welcomed by Chancellor Angela Merkel.
