What sunken treasures lie in Paris canal bed?

The Canal Saint Martin is a picturesque Paris landmark that many who have visited the city will know well.

For nearly two centuries, it has connected the north of the capital with the river Seine at Bastille, and while it used to be a working waterway now it is mainly used for leisure.

Unfortunately, locals are also renowned for using it as something of a rubbish tip, so every 15 years the canal needs to be emptied and cleaned.

Curious crowds of Parisians have turned out to see if any treasures will surface amongst the rubbish.
