Afghan migrant hopes for 'bright future' in Serbia

The official closure of the so-called Balkan route has left thousands of people hoping to reach western Europe stuck in Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia.

Said Alemyar and his family are among them. Said fled Afghanistan after multiple kidnap attempts were made on him, but was turned back at Serbia's border with Croatia.

While many of those stuck in Serbia are still determined to head west, Said and his family have decided to apply for asylum in Belgrade.
