Madrid protests: Thousands challenge pardoning plan

Tens of thousands of people have demonstrated in Madrid on Sunday against Spain's plan to pardon nine jailed Catalan separatists.

The Socialist government says its plan for pardons will help calm tensions in the north-eastern region. In attendance were leaders of the opposition Popular Party (PP) and the far-right Vox faction, Pablo Casado and Santiago Abascal.
