Turkey: Thousands gather in Istanbul to protest conviction of Canan Kaftancioglu
Thousands of people have gathered at a rally in Istanbul, to protest the conviction of a leading opposition politician.
Canan Kaftancioglu of the Republican People's Party (CHP) was found guilty of insulting President Tayyip Erdogan in a number of tweets, some written a decade ago.
The CHP party chairman addressed the crowd, and said sources were "trying to drag Turkey into a total darkness".
