Concerns raised for wildlife as Manx onshore wind farm plans progress

Concerns have been raised about the impact an onshore wind farm could have on Manx wildlife.

Residents close to the proposed site have said the size of the 150m (492ft) structures along with work to install them could have a detrimental impact on the local fauna and flora.

The Isle of Man's monopoly electricity provider has earmarked a site at Earystane and Scard in the south of the island for the development, which could have up to five turbines.

Co-owner of Bee and Blossom Farm John Corteen, who looks after birds of prey, said hen harriers, buzzards, and owls were among the species found in the immediate area.
