Why are there protests off the coast of Jersey?

On Thursday French fishing boats protested outside the port of St Helier in Jersey, in a dispute over access to waters around the island.

They claim that unfair terms have been imposed under post-Brexit rules, and a French minister threatened to cut off Jersey's electricity supplies in retaliation.

The boats may have gone for now, along with two Royal Navy patrol vessels, but the dispute continues.
