Raul Castro says Cubans must back economic reforms

Cuban President Raul Castro has warned that the island's revolution is at stake if his proposed economic reforms are not adopted.

President Castro said the changes, which will greatly ease restrictions on private enterprise, were designed to save the socialist system, and were not a return to capitalism.

He said the governing Communist party had to abandon negative views of small private businesses.

The BBC's Michael Voss in Havana explains the situation.
