Cuba eases car sales after 50-year ban

For more than 50 years, Cubans have been banned from selling cars bought after the 1959 revolution that ushered in Communism.

Now the prohibition has been lifted, and citizens will no longer need government permission to buy a car or pass one on to a relative.

The changes are part of President Raul Castro's wide-ranging economic reforms, which he says are aimed at "updating" Cuba's socialist economic system.
