World's tallest bridge hailed in Mexico

A bridge in Mexico, officially recognised as the tallest in the world, has been inaugurated by President Felipe Calderon.

The Baluarte bridge spans a deep ravine in northern Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, forming a vital part of a highway stretching from Mazatlan on the Pacific Coast to Durango in the interior.

The 403m (1,322ft) tall cable-stayed bridge is so lofty the Eiffel Tower would easily fit under its central span.
