Thousands greet Pope Benedict XVI in Mexico

Pope Benedict XVI has landed in Mexico on his first official visit to Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Thousands of people gathered at the airport in the city of Guanajuato to welcome him.

The pontiff is using his visit to condemn drug violence in the region, which he says is destroying the nation's youth. His next stop after Mexico is Cuba.
