Pope Francis' car mobbed by crowds in Brazil

There were chaotic scenes as the car carrying Pope Francis from Rio de Janeiro's airport was mobbed by crowds.

At one point, the vehicle appeared to become stuck in one of the city's infamous traffic jams, after the driver reportedly missed lanes that had been cleared by the security services.

Crowds immediately gathered round the car with one woman even passing her baby through the window for a kiss from the Holy Father.

The visit to Brazil is his first trip abroad since becoming head of the Catholic Church in March.
