Would Norway's special EU arrangement work for Britain?

Norwegians go to the polls next week to chose a new government, but the issue of joining the European Union is not one that has featured in this year's election campaigns.

The country contributes about 240m euros (£205m; $313m) annually to the EU in order to access the single market, yet has no seat at the meetings where EU decisions are made.

The electorate seem happy with the relationship, but is it an arrangement that would work for Britain?
