Favela life through the eyes of a child

A couple of years ago, merely 'buying a cookie' was a dangerous task in the Doña Marta favela in Rio de Janeiro, according to a child who has lived there his whole life.

The favelas are home to one in five residents of the city.

Thirteen-year-old Raphael told BBC Newsround that he is proud of his home, which is now far safer.
